The worst part is, you can't know a headline contains a spoiler until you've already read the headline, so it's completely unavoidable. I've now blocked at least 15 sites, some of them major, for spoiling ongoing shows that I'm watching for the sake of their online ad revenue. Out of principle, I immediately and permanently block any website that does an article like this from appearing in my feeds, but I shouldn't need to do this. Just today, I've had BBC's currently airing show The Bodyguard spoiled by HuffPost in the same way, a show I've been intending to watch in the near future.Īrticles like "creators confirm character X is really dead in show Y" or trashy clickbait articles from the Daily Mail, Metro, etc with headlines like "Character X's SHOCKING DEATH in last night's episode of Show Y" are, in my view, completely unacceptable. As someone who lives in the UK, I've had basically every major Game or Thrones plotline spoiled over the years because episodes air here around 24 hours after the US, giving plenty of time for headlines to appear all over news aggregation services. I have completely lost count of the number of times I've had major plot events spoiled because of this level of shitty journalism.

LIVEJOURNAL SPOILER CUT SERIES

It displays a complete lack of thought towards those who watch a series maybe a few days after an episode airs, or those who join a series late.
